Tuition for 2012-2013 School Year

At St. Patrick Catholic School we are passionate about helping parents educate their children. That is why we are excited to announce a new tuition model for the upcoming school year. This new model is easy to understand, supportive, and accessible to all, especially to large and low-income families.

The Challenge
Our current tuition model is complex and unattainable for most families. Our challenge is to provide a tuition model which is simple, just, and fully aligned with our Catholic faith.
Currently, the tuition each family pays is based on two different factors: the number of children enrolled, and whether a family is parishioner or not. There are thus six different tuition rates ranging from $4,260 to $9,000.

However, only 8% of families can afford full tuition at those rates, and about 92% of school families receive some form of tuition assistance. It is clear that most families cannot afford the current tuition rates, and many prospective families feel that their children have been denied a Catholic education. Unless we make some changes, our school will not be available for the vast majority of our parishioners.

We are called by God to meet that challenge by supporting families in policy as well as in principle.

The Solution
The solution to this challenge can be described in three words: Simple, Just, and Catholic.

  • Simple: One flat rate per family, regardless of the number of children.
  • Just: Since the cost per student at St. Patrick’s is $4,977 per year, our new tuition rate is set at an even $5,000. This rate represents the actual cost of a family’s first child in the school.
  • Catholic: This policy embodies bedrock Catholic principles. Support for the traditional family (based on marriage between one man and one woman) is built into the very structure of the tuition policy. In policy and in practice, we support parents who have accepted the gift of children.

Support for Parishioners
Recognizing the inherent link between St. Patrick Parish and School, families who are registered, regularly attend, regularly contribute to, and regularly participate in St. Patrick Parish will qualify for a parishioner tuition grant of $520 per year. Thus, $10 per week of a family’s Sunday offering will be provided to St. Patrick School to help parents educate their children.

Preferential Option for the Poor
Families who demonstrate financial need may qualify to receive additional financial aid. Ongoing efforts in the Development, Pre-School, and Childcare programs help us to fill the funding gap and offer a Catholic education to the largest number of families possible.

Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions about our Tuition Policy

Registration Fee

Since 2010-2011 School Year, Saint Patrick School charges an annual registration fee of $200 per family, if the family enrolls for the upcoming school year before Spring Break (Friday, April 20, 2011). After Spring Break 2011 the registration fee per family will be $275.

Payments and Tuition Policy

Tuition pays for a portion of the total operating costs of St. Patrick School.  Each family is responsible to pay this portion as a fair share of the cost of educating their children.  No Parish student will be refused admission to Saint Patrick School because of inability to pay.

  • Unless paid in advance all tuition must be paid using automatic ACH withdrawal for 11 months, from June, 2011 through April, 2012.
  • If payment is impossible due to insufficient funds, the school will contact the parent or responsible party to determine when to make a second attempt.  Continued enrollment is contingent upon the fulfillment of this tuition agreement.
  • Exceptions to this policy will only be made in individual cases, for serious reasons, and with the approval of the Principal.
  • In order to qualify for “In Parish” tuition rates, a family must be registered in St. Patrick Parish, attend Sunday mass or the Saturday Vigil Mass regularly, and contribute regularly to the Sunday offering collection.
  • If a student transfers to another school, before student records are forwarded; families must be current on all bills, including all tuition already billed.  No records will be forwarded until a family’s tuition account is current.
